June 14th, 2008 will mark the second annual Open Air Festival of the Arts, along the scenic Chippewa River. In collaboration with the Eau Claire Downtown Farmers Market, there will be artwork for sale and on display by regional artists, performances throughout the day, food and children's activities including a people-powered procession, and a concert at the Phoenix Park Labyrinth. This is a waste free event. Recycling and composting facilities will be available.

Pre-Festival Workshops Workshops are held at the Eau Claire Regional Arts Center at
316 Eau Claire Street.
Wear clothing that can get messy.
Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult (exception: must be over 13 or accompanied by adult for Batik workshop).
Sat. May 31, 10AM-4PM Giant puppet construction:
Groups of 3-5 individuals will work together to create a parade ready giant puppet. Some of the activities in this workshop include : paper mache, paper sculpting, cardboard sculpting, painting, and costume creating. We may need additional sessions to complete the puppet.
Mon. June 2, Noon-7PM Batik Butterfly Wing Workshop:
Participants will learn the art of batik while creating beautiful vibrant wings to wear during the people powered procession. This workshop is suitable for all ages, under 13 must be accompanied by an adult as the process involved hot wax.
Tues. June 3, Noon-7PM Native Grass Hats and Hoops:
Participants will create tall grass headpieces that represent the green grass growing all around us. We will also explore the fire element and create hoops of “fire” to spin during the procession.
Thurs. June 5, 4PM-6PM Batik Banner Workshop:
Phoenix Park will be alive with color. Participants in this workshop will create a one of a kind batiked flag or banner that will add color and excitement to the skies above the procession's path. This workshop is suitable for all ages, under 13 must be accompanied by an adult as the process involved hot wax.
Fri. June 6, 10PM-2PM Open Studio:
The weekend before the festival the studio will be open to finish projects and prepare for the festival. Stop in if you began a project that still needs work.
